Experiential Team Building: The Appreciative Way
ND Learning Centre has been a leader in the field of Experiential Team Building since 1996-and we're still leading the way with new innovations. We are the first in Canada to combine the proven beneficial methods of Experiential Learning and team building within an Appreciative Inquiry framework.
Appreciative Inquiry (AI) is a powerful new vehicle for energizing positive change in an organization's human, ecological and economic functioning. Its aim is to discover, expand, and sustain an organization's root causes of success. Rather than taking the traditional problem solving approach to uncover what isn't working and focusing on the reasons for failure, AI is the study and exploration of what gives life to human systems when they function at their best. This approach to organizational change is based on the assumption that questions and dialogue about strengths, successes, values, hopes and dreams are themselves transformational. What we learn about what works is used to create transformational change.
Our experiential team building programs still mirror the 'learn-by-doing' approach of traditional experiential programs, but our Appreciative Facilitators lead you through a Discovery of your very best-we engage you in dialogue and encourage you to share your best stories with regard to your core values, your strengths as a group/organization, times when you were functioning at your peak performance. A variety of methods are used such as group dialogue, interviews, world café, behaviour/personality profiles and experiential activities. The moments of exception are identified, highlighted and built upon.
These Experiential team building programs are effective with:
- New teams
- Teams in conflict
- Environments with low morale
- Organizations that have recently experienced a reorganization or currently in transition
- Teams that wish to increase their performance or sharpen the saw
