A task force from a government department had been formed to plan a major conference. This 3-day conference was to bring party members together from across the country. Many of these party members had never met before and the task force wanted to provide an opportunity for the participants to interact on a more social level. They also wanted to begin the conference on a tone that would promote communication, cooperation and trust. We met with the task force to discuss what they wished to accomplish. After getting details such as room size and number of participants we were able to present a series of hands-on learning exercises that would allow the participants to meet and get to know each other a bit better while promoting the tone of open communication, trust and cooperation. This tone could then be carried out through the rest of the conference.
